If antioxidants were a league of super heroes, glutathione would be its Superman, for being able to help protect every single cell in the body (both on its own and by helping the other antioxidants get used more) from free radicals, in addition to supporting the immune system and combating the effects of aging in other ways, such as by assisting in nutrient metabolism, energy production, detoxification, and more. Unfortunately, our bodies don't generate nearly as much glutathione after the age of 45 or so, which leaves us more vulnerable.
