- Restores and promotes glutathione synthesis
- Enhances immune & antioxidant defences
- Reduces oxidative stress
- Supports the body’s natural detoxification process
Cysteine and glycine are both necessary precursors for glutathione (GSH) synthesis, and co-supplementation of these nutrients promotes intracellular glutathione levels. Glutathione is one of the main endogenous antioxidants, acting in the body to recycle other antioxidants and protect the body from free radicals, as well as support detoxification. It is found in virtually every cell of the body and plays a critical role in cell function. Increased glutathione levels have been linked to supporting a reduction in oxidative stress.

Product Notes:
Though there has yet to be a health product licensed for sale in Canada using the 'GlyNAC' name featured in recent studies, you can now get an equivalent combination in a powdered form from Pure Encapsulations.
If antioxidants were a league of superheroes, glutathione would be its Superman, for being able to help protect every single cell in the body (both on its own and by helping the other antioxidants get used more) from free radicals, in addition to supporting the immune system and combating the effects of aging in other ways, such as by assisting in nutrient metabolism, energy production, detoxification, and more.
Unfortunately, our bodies don't generate nearly as much glutathione after the age of 45 or so, which leaves us more vulnerable. And while it can be taken as a supplement, it turns out it can be far more effective to furnish the body with the first two of its three main building blocks (glycine, L-cysteine, and L-glutamate) to enable it to be produced right within the cells from scratch, as needed, rather than transported into them whole - not only because the supplemental forms tend to be unstable and difficult to absorb, but also because too much glutathione can end up backfiring and lead to accelerated aging (due to a phenomenon known as reductive stress).
That's where NAC + Glycine powder comes in. Studies have shown that a combination of those two precursors of GSH (Glycine and N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine) in a one-to-one ratio can significantly improve GSH deficiency, oxidative stress levels, mitochondrial impairment, inflammation, insulin resistance, physical strength, exercise capacity, and several other hallmarks of aging in older adults -- without interfering with the delicate balance between the 'healthy' levels of oxidants that cells produce to improve their signalling and efficiency, and glutathione's ongoing efforts to reduce excessive levels within those cells.
